Step-by-Step Washing for Blonde Hair Extensions

• Gather everything you need

You will need gentle, sulphate-free shampoo, a quality moisturising conditioner, a wide-tooth comb or extension brush, and a good detangling spray (optional).

• Detangle the fibres

Before wetting your extensions, detangle them carefully with a wide-tooth comb or extension brush. Do not tug or pull aggressively; if your extensions are particularly tangled, consider using a detangling spray to facilitate the process.

• Prepare your extensions

If you're planning to wash your hair extensions using conditioner only (known as ‘co-washing’, often preferred when dryness is an issue), apply a generous amount of the conditioner, working it in thoroughly. If you use shampoo, dilute it with water, as this will lessen the drying effect and reduce the harshness on the fibres.  

• Add water

• Detangle 

Before rinsing out the conditioner, detangle gently again. 

• Rinse thoroughly

Ensure no product residue is left behind, as this can dull extensions. Squeeze out excess water (avoid wringing or twisting).

• Blot dry with a microfibre towel

Remove as much water as possible by softly squeezing the extensions with a microfiber towel or old T-shirt, as this helps prevent a frizzy result.

• Allow to dry naturally

Although it is preferable to allow synthetic hair extensions to dry naturally, real hair may require some low-heat blow-drying to retain its style and shape.
